How to access a local file on a S60 handset?

    Hello folks,

I am making an application which reads .txt file, and then do something.

To do so, I should put the .txt file to the folder to which my application was installed. How can I know where the application folder is?

Maybe the installed files are hidden. So, I have used Y-Browser but it was not successful to get the folder.

Plus, if I make a debug file in my application on S60, can I transfer the file to PC?

    Please help me. Thank you!

    Hi,

there is a link, where you can find out how to get the private folder name:
    http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...d.php?t=120278

This folder is accessible only from you application, it will not be visible from PC Suite.

For log files (that's what I thing you mean by "debug output" is normally used folder "c:\logs\YouAppName\. Check RFileLogger class.

Thank you! I understood how to access local files.

But, I wanted to know how to add some files to the application folder.

For example, I need to put a pre-made file for my application to use it later. How can I include the file when I upload my .sis file?

you could place a text file for example while installation itself. you need to mention the file and the path in the .pkg file and create a sis file with it.

    for example.
    Code:
; Add any installation notes if applicable
    "SOURCE_PATH/Installation.txt" -"!:\private\EA9A7743\Installation.txt"
this would place the installation.txt on the applications private folder. here its EA9A7743.

or you could use RFile class to create file. Have a look at that class too.
