    Video recording/display problem on N75

    Hello,

    I have a program that attempts to record and display video. When rendered onto the screen, on the N71 the display looks fine. However on the N75, the display looks like it has been rotated counter clockwise by 90 degrees. And of course, it makes no difference if I physically rotate the phone during the recording.

    I can't seem to figure out how to get it to display upright. Does anyone know if this is a bug in the implementation of the N75? How can I find out if there is a firmware update that may have fixed it, assuming it is a firmware bug?

    Here are parts of the source code.

    Thanks,

    Ajit.

    -----

    player = Manager.createPlayer("capture://video");
    player.realize();

    ....

    videoControl = (VideoControl)player.getControl("VideoControl");
    videoCanvas = new VideoCanvas();
    videoCanvas.initControls(videoControl);

    ....

    player.start();

    ...

    public class VideoCanvas extends Canvas {
    private VideoControl vc = null;

    public void initControls(VideoControl videoControl) {

    int width = getWidth();
    int height = getHeight();
    this.vc = videoControl;

    videoControl.initDisplayMode(VideoControl.USE_DIRECT_VIDEO, this);
    try {
    videoControl.setDisplayLocation(2, 2);
    videoControl.setDisplaySize(width - 4, height - 4);
    }
    catch (MediaException me) {
    }

    videoControl.setVisible(true);
    }

    public void paint(Graphics g) {
    int width = getWidth();
    int height = getHeight();

    // Draw a green border around the VideoControl.
    g.setColor(0x00ff00);
    g.drawRect(0, 0, width - 1, height - 1);
    g.drawRect(1, 1, width - 3, height - 3);

    }
    }

    Hello ajitnair,

    I've encountered this too. Are you using Cingular (or some other operator/carrier branded) phone?

    Yeah, I'm using an AT&T/Cingular branded (and locked) phone. What about you? Were you able to arrive at a solution?

    Thanks.

    Hello ajitnair,

    unfortunately I wasn't personally able to work it out at the time I encountered it, but afaik firmware update should do the trick.

    Thanks for the info r2j7.

    If I do end up updating the firmware and it works, I'll post a reply on this thread. I'm not sure I'll go to those lengths though.
