    Monitoring battery status

    Hello

I'm using the following code provided in the Forum Nokia Wiki and in the Symbian techlib for retrieving the battery status on a 3rd edition phone:
    - Forum Nokia Wiki
    - Symbian techlib

While no charger is connected to my phone (N73 resp. N95) I get the return value "CTelephony::EPoweredByBattery" (The phone is powered by the battery). That's o.k.

But if I connect the charger (with inserted battery!), I get the return value "CTelephony::ENoBatteryConnected"...

That's strange because I expected the return value "CTelephony::EBatteryConnectedButExternallyPowered" (Battery connected, but phone is externaly powered).

What do you think? Is that a bug? Does someone haven an idea on how to solve it?

Is there nobody who has an idea? E.g. Symbianyucca who created the mentioned article in the Forum Nokia Wiki:

yes it is a Known issue and still now there is no work around for it. Hope that soon there will be one.

Your battery may really have been disconnected (internally) to stop it exploding from overcharging.

Hmm, maybe the electronic really disconnects the battery internally while loading it... because I didn't found a "Known Issue" concerning that problem.

Anyway, the battery was at around 50% when I connected the charger so I don't think it's an overcharging isssue...

    Re: Monitoring battery status

I didn't mean it is actually overcharging. I have seen designs where the battery is disconnected while the external power is on to prevent charging issues(I can only guess that it is the same for the Nokias)

Not much help I know, but to join in the chorus, I have done work on battery monitoring on several devices over the last few years and it always seems to be one of those areas that doesn't work quite as well as one might hope.

I never found a workaround for any of the problems I have. I/the customers just have to live with the features.
