Lightbulb Connecting to wireless AP using J2ME

    Friends,

I am exploring the possibility to have Java to initiate connection to WiFi AP. Appreciate any lead or hint where should i get started. Or is it possible at all? TQ.

I suppose you are talking about S60 devices. On those devices the user selects the APN to be used. If the user chooses WiFi AP, then great, WiFi AP is used. Your MIDlet does not have powers to control which AP is used, that is up to the user.

Not a direct answer to your question, but here two connectivity WLAN clients (Boingo Mobile & DeviceScape Symbian C++ clients) proving WLAN connectivity to any application (Symbian, Flashlite, JAVA, Python..) to commercial WLAN networks which typically require username & passwords (e.g. day pass).

If someone plans to create such a WLAN connectivity clients with Symbian C++, I would recommend to contact me first.
