    Help with custom MIME types

    Hi!

    I have some custom MIME types in my app. I successfully wrote a recognizer that registers the MIME types in the system at startup.

    Now, I am trying to figure out how to associate those file types with my application, so the app is started whenever I open one of these files. Does anybody have any tips?

    with pre-OS 9 you do it with aif file, and with OS 9 you'll do it inside the registration file.

    I'm doing this for OS 9.
    Hmm, the _reg.rss file you mean? Is it possible to find more information about this somewhere, or otherwise show me what to do? Thank you!

    just add line like this into your registration file:

    datatype_list=
    {
    DATATYPE { priority=EDataTypePriorityHigh; type="MyFile/type"; }
    };

    Ok, cool. Thanks!

    Getting a weird problem... when I try to open one of my files from the File Manager (emulator environment) I get a "not enough memory" error, even though there is plenty of memory to go around. What can be wrong?

    I also need to know how to deploy the recognizer onto a device. Do I need to build a SIS and sign it? What kind of signing is needed? Finally, is c:\sys\bin\ the correct install folder, or do I need to write !:\sys\bin\ ?

    Re: Help with custom MIME types

    You need a DevCert because of the ProtServ capability. And yes, you should deploy both files (the .dll to \sys\bin and the .rsc to its place).

    I suggest you go through the document handler example which has the source and documentation on how to do all this
