    N95 8GB Uninstallation problems

    Hi

    Were are seeing some problems when uninstalling our application from the N95 8Gb device. Frequently the installer will display the "Unable to remove file" error when we attempt to uninstall our application. However, the very same application can be uninstalled without problem on many other S60 3.0 and 3.1 devices.

    We are suspecting that this maybe an installer issue with the Firmware version of the N95 Gb that we have (10.0.0.21, 29-09-07).

    Could someone please let us know if this might be the case?

    If it is a Firmware issue, will Symbian Signing still raise a failure for this issue despite the fact that it is not the applications that is at fault?

    Also, is there a working firmware update available for the N95 8Gb?

    Firmware update news can be tracked with the following RSS feed: http://europe.nokia.com/EUROPE_NOKIA...S/nsu_news.xml

    Can you give some details about your application? Is is a standalone GUI or a server? Are you closing the application on system's request or are you attempting to keep it open? Is your application keeping files open during its execution ?

    All these and more might explain the observed behavior. It could be that the device has an bug, but it could also be that the problem is caused by your application's behavior.

    Can you tell me however whether Symbian Signed testing takes into account the fact thay occasionally newly released devices have firmware issues?

    Also, which version of the firmware should Symbian Signed test houses be using:
    - always the latest available firmware?
    - the earliest publicly released firmware since some customers will have devices with these firmware versions on them?
    - a range of firmware revisions publicly available?

    The installation in question is actually a combination of applications and background servers. During uninstallation, all the applications and servers are shutdown and no files are left open.

    The key point is that this application has passed Nokia Extended testing on a range of S60 3.0 and S60 3.1 devices already - which is why we suspect that it may be firmware issues that are causing the problem on the N95 8Gb.

    So could someone please confirm what the tests houses stance is on firmware revisions used?
