    Question How to register an ECom plugin?

    I want to debug the ICL Codec example plugin (\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\Examples\Multimedia\ICLCodec\ExPNGCodec.mmp) on the Symbian OS S60 simulator. But I don't know how to register this plugin (ECom plugin) on the simulator.

    How to register an ECom plugin on the windows simulator?

    Thank you in advance.

    you don't need to, you just have to have the resource file, which will define all necessary information. Check from the mmp file that it is included and the target path is correct, and that you have ProtSeerv capability included.

    Re: How to register an ECom plugin?

    Thanks a lot for your reply.
    I'm a beginer, so I don't know about the detail of the Symbian ECom Plugin. I just try to build the ICL Codec Example and ImageConvert Example and run it.

    Here is my test codec for the problem in the :
    void CImageConverterEngine::StartToDecodeL( TFileName& aFileName )
    {
    delete iImageDecoder; iImageDecoder = NULL;
    delete iBitmap; iBitmap = NULL;

    //Test1: Use the default BMP ICL Codec Plugin. Can open the BMP file.
    //TUid aPluginUid = {0x101F45AF}, aMimeType = {0x101F45B0}, aSubType = {0};
    //Test2:Use the default PNG ICL Codec Plugin. Can open the PNG file
    //TUid aPluginUid = {0x101F45C8}, aMimeType = {0x101F45C9}, aSubType = {0};
    //Test3:Use the ExPNG (the example PNG ICL Codec) Plugin. Can not open the PNG file with the example PNG codec.
    TUid aPluginUid = {0x101F4123}, aMimeType = {0x101F45C9}, aSubType = {0};

    // create the decoder
    //iImageDecoder = CImageDecoder::FileNewL(iFs, aFileName);
    iImageDecoder = CImageDecoder::FileNewL( iFs, aFileName, CImageDecoder::EOptionNone, aMimeType, aSubType, aPluginUid);

    // create the destination bitmap
    iBitmap = new (ELeave) CFbsBitmap();
    iBitmap->Create( iImageDecoder->FrameInfo().iOverallSizeInPixels,
    iImageDecoder->FrameInfo().iFrameDisplayMode );

    // start conversion to bitmap
    iState = EDecoding;
    iImageDecoder->Convert( &iStatus, *iBitmap );
    SetActive();
    }

    I think the Example PNG ICL Codec Plugin has not registered in the framework, but I don't know how to do it.

    Thanks again.

    Question Re: How to register an ECom plugin?

    My test source code is downloaded from URL:http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.n...nguage=english

    If I only use the default ICL Codecs, the app works fine.
