    Symbian Viruses

    Hello all
How could I benefit from a Database of virus signatures over mobile windows to develop a new database for viruses over Symbian OS, I mean is there anything in common I can benefit from?

    Regards,

    Re: Symbian Viruses

No. Virus software (including other kinds of malicious apps like trojans, spyware, etc., that are - strictly speaking - not viruses) are always operating system specific. So, a particular virus signature for some other operating system (like Windows) will be useless for detecting another virus on that or another other operating system (like Symbian).

And no true virus apps that install and replicate themselves have been seen on Symbian. They all require the user to actively allow installation (of course fooling average people to install malicious applications is rather easy).

    Anyway, read this, too: http://3lib.ukonline.co.uk/viruses.htm

    Re: Symbian Viruses

    Dear Petrib
Thank you very much for your valuable information you included in your reply. It was of great benefit for me.
The last point I want kindly ask you about is whether there is a procedure to identify viruses over Symbian (e.g. Is there any sort of files (system files) which viruses may try to access or edit to infect our system?)
    Kind Regards,

    Hi iyadoo..

You need to implement the File server extension for it...so that you will get the notification and infection changes ...
