Certificate Error Contact the application supplier in Nokia E61

    Hi All,

I am trying to install the midlet which is signed by VeriSign Java Object Signing (Class 3) Digital ID.After signing the application it adds MIDlet-Certificate-1-1,MIDlet-Certificate-1-2 and MIDlet-Jar-RSA-SHA1 in JAD file. When i try to install the application in Nokia E61i, I am getting the "Certificate Error Contact the application Supplier.".The Phone Date and Time also set properly.

Please can anyone help me to fix this problem?

    Thanks,
    Farook.

Have you gone through this guide, understood the domains, and checked these tricks? Which of this information pieces could be the problem? For testing, have you tried a normal Hello-World-MIDlet? For testing, have you tried without JAD?

Re: Certificate Error Contact the application supplier in Nokia E61

    Hi Traud,

I created the HelloWorld project. When I install the midlet without signing it works fine.

I am using the VeriSign Java Object Signing (Class 3) Digital ID certificate to signed the MIDlet.

My Alias is in default java keystore ".ksystore"

I am signing the jar file using the following command

    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_08\bin>java -jar jadTool.jar -addcert -alias <alias name> -inputjad HelloWorld.jad -outputjad HelloWorld1.jad

In the HelloWorld1.jad it has the following attributes.
    MIDlet-Certificate-1-1
    MIDlet-Certificate-1-2
    MIDlet-Jar-RSA-SHA1
    MIDlet-Certificate-1-3

I tried to install this JAD and JAR file it gives "Certificate Error".

Also I tried to install after deleting the MIDlet-Certificate-1-3, but this also gives the same result.

My Phone and System date and time are proper.

please can you help me to fix this problem and also can you tell me how to find the certiciate present in mobile or not?

    Thanks,
    Farook.

    Okay:
    • S60 (your device) » Menu » Tools » Settings » (General) » Security » Certif. management » your CA (since 3rd Edition, CA-certificates for code-signing begin with ‘MIDP’) » Options » Trust settings » App. installation » Yes
    • Series 40 since 3rd Edition » Menu » Settings » Security » Authority certificates » Certificate list » your CA » Options » Select use » Application signing » Checked
    • Series 40 » Menu » Web or Services » Settings » Security settings » Authority certificates » Certificate list » your CA » Options » Select use » Application signing » Checked
    • Series 80 » Open » Tools » Control panel » Security » Certificate manager » Other » your CA » View details » Trust settings » Java installation » Yes

Re: Certificate Error Contact the application supplier in Nokia E61

Thanks Traud. Now i am using Nokia E61i.From Certicate List i can see

MIDP2 Verisign INC.So the root certificate is present in Mobile.

But Still i am facing the same problem "Certificate Error"

I am having the following doubts

    1. My key alias is present in default java keystore ".keystore" whether it cause any problem?

    2. Is it possible copy my alias to another keystore by the command line.

3.Is it possible to create a new alias in WTK using my certificate id which i recieved from Versign.

    Thanks,
    Farook.

    Hi Traud,

The issue is solved. The problem is when i imported the certificate to WTK that listed only certificates of two chain.I removed all the unwanted alias and i tried to import the keystore to WTK.Now it listed the certificate of three chain.

    Thanks Traud.

    Thanks,
    Farook.

    Hi Geetanjali,

do you mean that you're using a self-generated certificate? If this is your case, then you cannot use it to sign and install midlets on real devices, as pointed out in this other thread:
