Thumbs down Custom flash lite menu s60 v2

    Hello,

Would it be possible to have an alternate flash menu for a s60 v2 ?

I was thinking of a Symbian C++/J2ME/Python application with a Flash Lite front-end. I see Flash Lite has a XMLSocket API.

In what language could this be done, and how ?

    Thank you.

Re: custom flash lite menu s60 v2

    Hi,

Please note that these are FEW ISSUES with FlashLite 2.1

    1. Deployment,Licensing-Redistribution is not allowed. The user has to register and download the FlashLite2.1 executable on to mobile. You cannot redistribute the sis file of the FlashLite2.1.

    2. Splash Screen - If you are using FlashLite 2.1 there occurs a SplashScreen of Flash for a period of 7 seconds. Most of the Vendors/Customers doesnt like this.

    3. XML Sockets - if you are using XML Sockets, There is a pop up for Access Points (Even though you are trying to connect 127.0.0.1).

And Regarding the Menu you can develop in FlashLite 2.1 please check appropriate API in FL.

    Regards,

No... I mean making a swf containing the menu, a c++ engine, and bundle it all together into a .sis file (and of course, the Flash Lite as an requirement, for the user to download separately)

I`m thinking of it as an icon in the menu (alright, the flash splash screen appears, you accept the pop-up) and the custom menu swf appears, linking to the phone data through the symbian c++ engine through XML Sockets.

After some search since my last post, I've found the thing I needed.

    It's called "iTheme for S60 3rd Edition".

Well... that's exactly what I was thinking of (and I assume it's flash with c++)
but it's just for s60 v3... Is there any way to port it to v2 ?

    Anyone ? ...

I tried emailing the developer of the iTheme, maybe he would release the source code, that would be a lot easier I guess...
