    Internet: Unable to connect to network... Popup

    Hello,

    My Flash Lite 2.x application shows the following (system) message pretty randomly. I am trying to get rid of it.

    ------------ --------- ----
    > Internet:
    > Unable to connect to
    > network. Try again later
    > ------------ --------- ----
    > OK.......... ........Close

    I get the popup message randomly on S60 FP3...Nokia 6120c...but never on S40 or WM5.

    I originally thought it was related to removing a movie holder clip before a load has completed. This is not the case (I wrote some test programs to verify this).

    I can't find any documentation on this message. It seems the flash
    lite player does randomly lose internet connection?

    Has anyone debugged this problem before?

    Ciao,

    just couple of things.

    The Nokia 6120c is a Nokia S60 3rd Edition FP1 so it's a FL2.0 enabled phone.

    So, one thing to try is to publish your content for FL2.

    Also you can try to test your application on the Remote Device Access service, since the message looks like a network issue.

    Re: Internet: Unable to connect to network... Popup

    Hi. I'm also getting "Internet: Unable to connect to network. Try again later" from my FL2.0 swf.

    It's generated by the code below.

    When i test it on a physical N95 8GB by loading the swf directly from the file manager I get the error.

    If i upload the same swf to my webserver, and browse to it via the browser using the URL, it loads up fine. The swf is published with 'Access Network Only' if that helps. Can anybody shed any light please?

    Code:
    var htmltext:String = ""
    var feedcount:Number = 0;

    var xml:XML = new XML();
    xml.ignoreWhite = true;
    xml.onLoad = function(success)
    {
    	if (success)
    	{
    		var nodes:Array = this.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes;
    		for( var i in nodes )
    		{
    			if (nodes[i].nodeName == "item")
    			{
    				feedcount++;
    				if (feedcount > 2)
    				{
    					break;
    				}
    				htmltext = htmltext + "<b><font size='12'>" + nodes[i].childNodes[0].firstChild + "</font></b><br /><font size='10'>" + nodes[i].childNodes[3].firstChild + "</font><br /><font size='10'>" + nodes[i].childNodes[4].firstChild + "</font><br /><font size='10' color='#0000ff'><a href='" + nodes[i].childNodes[1].firstChild + "' target='_blank'>Link to Page</a></font></br /><br /><br />";
    				rsscontent.htmlText = htmltext;
    			}
    		}
    	}
    }
    xml.load("http://www.myurl.co.uk/whatever.xml");

    Re: Internet: Unable to connect to network... Popup

    I've just stumbled across this:
    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...arse_XML_files

    Which actually states it doesnt work on N95. Is there a workaround for this? Or an explanation?
    Thanks.

    There is a solution (hooray!). The code in the link below will actually work. To get XML parsing to work on N95 you need to:

    a) Publish Flash Lite as 'Access Network Only' (Check your publish settings)

    and

    b) Create a file 'crossdomain.xml' and upload it to the root of your webserver. Mine contains:

    <cross-domain-policy>
    <allow-access-from domain="*"/>
    </cross-domain-policy>

    If you don't have access to the webserver, then i guess it's tough luck. Unless you ask the web administrator nicely, that is....
