i am java programmer and i need your help

    Dear All,

I am working with j2me and i am trying to edit phone book contacts.
I was able to edit the contacts but the problem is with every contact to be edited there is a confirmation alarm that asks me if it is ok to edit the contact or not.

I want to know do you have the same problem in C++?? ,or this can be avoided? in C++.

    Thanks
    raghda

In java, you just need the right certificate for your application and the securityquestion will never ask again.
Problem is: this will cost some money.

Re: i am java programmer and i need your help

    Hi,
    Thanks for replying.
I forgot to tell you that i am targeting nokia 3rd edition devices, and i knew that it is impossible to stop this security alarms while editing, adding or deleting any contacts in the phonebook.so if i have 100 contacts i have to confirm 100 times even if the application is signed and i have the certificate.

I know that this is because of midp2 restrections ,but because i know that c++ is stronger than java with nokia 3rd edition i decided to ask c++ professionals.

please answer me as soon as possible.

    Thanks
    raghda

You got your answer: In c++ you will have no security alarms, but you need to sign your application on 3rd ed. devices as well.

I developed a lot in java me as well, and as I told you: with the right cert, there will be no security alarms any more as well.

The root certificate has to be installed on the mobile device and that´s the problem. Not each root cert is installed on each device. With an verisign cert for example you have a quite good chance to get most devices.
With such certs, you still need to modify the devices security options on the first install of the application.
The best way for java is a java-signed cert. You would not have to modify anything and there will be no security alarm and it should run on all devices.

BUT: this is the most expensive way.

    Regards,
    Andi

    hi Litchens,

I am sorry to tell you that but you are wrong in saying that certificate in java will solve the problem

    and here is the proof
    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...iting_PIM_data

please have a look at this link.

    Thanks

    Ok, I see.
This information is quite new for me. I never had problems with those certs. Only that they were not available on all phones.

Do you know if this is a problem with symbian phones?

    Thank you for the information.

    Regards,
    Andi

Mobile Information Device Profile is just a java specification and has nothing to do with c++
