    capability for commdb

    hi
I'm trying to write a program that writes to the commdb database
but get something like "unable to activate program because security problem"
my current purpose is to test it on my nokia 6120 phone (3d symbian 9.2) , seem like the self-signed is not enough for that capability
. i also try using UID from symbian site ( protected range )as my UID & SID .. but get "unable to install a protected application from an untrusted supplier "
    i'm a free developer (not a company..)
1.what is the capability for commdb writing ?
2.what is the process for testing it in a develop environment (my phone) ?
3.what is the process of the application distribution (what license should i have ) ?

If your code runs in the emulator, you can check the missing capabilities in the log-file (epocwind.out in your Temp folder - \Documents and Settings\you\Local Settings\Temp is its default location).

That is normal, protected UID-s do not work with self-signing, that is the purpose.

I would guess at least the Read/WriteDeviceData are both needed, and they are not available with self-signing.

You install the application and click on its icon.
3.what is the process of the application distribution (what license should i have ) ?
You might want to visit www.symbiansigned.com, and read the documentation. Details in the (currently) neighboring thread (http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...d.php?t=127307).

If the term "Developer Certificate" sounds familiar to you: that is what you need.
If it does not sound familiar to you: you should read about it.
    The links are still valid.
