    Phone supports video recording but still no luck :(

    Hi,

    According to the specifications my Nokia 6110 Navigator support video recording but when I test something as simple as:

    Code:
    			Player p = Manager.createPlayer("capture://video");
    			p.realize();
    			RecordControl rc = (RecordControl)p.getControl("RecordControl");
    			System.out.println(rc);
    I get that rc equals "null". Why is this? I though getControl only returns null if the handset doesn't support the type?

    I should add that when I try:

    Code:
    System.out.println(System.getProperty("supports.video.capture"));
    			System.out.println(System.getProperty("video.encodings"));
    I get:

    true
    encoding=rgb565&width=160&height=120 encoding=rgb565&width=320&height=240 encoding=rgb565&width=120&height=160

    Re: Phone supports video recording but still no luck :(

    Hi,
    I had a similar problem while playing an audio file. After a Player p.start(), i.e.when an audio has started playing, the player p was always null. So, after creating the player, i did a p.addPlayerListener(this), and added a method public void playerUpdate(Player player, String event, Object data) which was invoked whenever the state of the player changed. Of course, the class was implementing PlayerListener.
    Not sure whether this will resolve your problem, but might surely give u an insight.
    Regards,
    Sanket

    OK, thanks for your reply. In my case Player is not null, but getControl() returns null. I have a feeling that this is a more fundamental problem. Either that, or I have just missed to initiate something very basic.

    What does your code do in playerUpdate() that solves the null problem?

    Problem solved. I was running the application in the emulator. So, of course I got the exception. It works fine on the actual handset.

    Sorry for bugging you.

    Thanks!
