Key B in sector 0 after unlocking

I'm getting an MFStandardException when trying to write to the MFManufacturerBlock using Key B (okay to do so according to the accessbits). Is KeyB in the first sector _NOT_ FFFFFFFFFFFF or is there some sort of hardware protection on this block that makes writing impossible even though the accessbits and keys should allow it?

Edit: I looked up the API, it says "MFManufacturerBlock.write(): always throws MFStandardException because read-only". However I tried to write to the MFBlock (that corresponds to the MFManufacturerBlock) - but the result was the same...

I have tried it now. Still get the same:
    MFStandardException, reason: ERROR_PROTECTED
