    Publish and Subscribe problem

    Hi all,

    I am a newbie on symbian, I have been able to successfully use Publish and subscribe for notification of events like Bluetooth Status (using KPropertyKeyBluetoothGetConnectingStatus), Message Inbox Status(using KUidInboxStatusValue) but unable to use it for notification of events like launching of Camera or AudioPlayer or VideoPlayer application.

    Can I use Publish and Subscribe or CentralRepository for such notifications.
    If not, is their any other way for getting notification as soon as someone launches a Camera or MusicPlayer or a VideoPlayer application ??????

    don't think there are CR keys for this, but one way to find the event is to have a background application monitoring focus events, Wiki has some example codes for doing this already, so have a look into there.

    Re: Publish and Subscribe problem

    Thanks a lot, Jukka.

    I have found the link for "how to capture foreground events in a background application".
    Here is the link for people facing the same problem :

    Thanks again,

    Re: Publish and Subscribe problem

    Hi,

    I am using P&S for getting the event notification for phone switchOff but unable to get the notification.

    Code steps:

    StartSysAgt2();
    User::LeaveIfError(iProperty.Attach(KUidSystemCategory, KUidPhonePwrValue)); // In constructL
    iProperty.Subscribe(iStatus);

    There is no library available for StartSysAgt2()
    and the StartSysAgt2() help says :
    "SysAgt2 server does not ofer any functionality other than registering P&S properties with UIDs {0x100052C5..0x100052F4} and updating the "battery status" property at regular periods of time (30 seconds)"

    This shows that it is necessary to use StartSysAgt2() as without using it I am not able to get the notification ??

    Thanks & Regards,
    Suyash.

    Re: Publish and Subscribe problem

    Hi,

    Actually, I want to know which library is to be used for StartSysAgt2() to start the SystemAgent2 server on S60 3rd edition so that I can get the notification for device SwitchOff event by subscribing to the KUidPhonePwrValue (which has UID 0x100052C5) ??

    [ According to the SDK help SysAgt2 server is needed for registering P&S properties with UIDs {0x100052C5..0x100052F4} ]

    Thanks & Regards,
    Suyash.
