    Problem with express signed application

    Hello All,

I have express signed my application and facing one problem with signed sis file.

Function of application : Whenever user presses * or # , application comes in foreground and plays one audio file. This functionality is working with pre-signed sis file on all screens, but signed application not working on standby screen. What could be the reason for such a weird behavior....working on all screens except standby screen.

please give some pointer on this issue....

    Regards
    Ajit Choudhari

i have seen this thing already.
however i have checked this thing on few E61 and its working fine on all E61 on which i have checked. and i can see presigned sis file is working nice.
but the thing is that i submitted this kind of application which runs on all screens and express signed sis file which i have got is not working on standby screen.

so please give some pointer about this functional difference..... what is the reason??

Re: Problem with express signed application

    Impossible.

The binaries submitted through Symbian Signed are returned to you untouched (run a binary compare on them if you do not believe this). The only component affected by signing is the sis file but the relevance of that is at install time only, it has no impact on how the application behaves at runtime.

What else (aside from the signature) is different? Are the capabilities used the same? The same UIDs?

Re: Problem with express signed application

    Hi Ajit,

As expected, the application behaves the same, regardless of the certificate used for signing. On the idle screen pressing the # key has the result only the profile change. Your application is not able to detect the key. On other screens the key gets to you applications as there is no other system app. interested in it.

If you truly see the expected behavior on your phone when signed with DevCert then the problem must be that you have two version of the application and the one Express Signed is not the right one.

    Best regards,

Re: Problem with express signed application

Please ensure that the application you submit through the Express Signed process is conforming to all the required testing criteria. If not, you might have the surprise of not being able to use the Express Signed process until you regain your assumed good reputation.
