    Question Plat form request behaviour in S60 and S40 mobiles

    Hi All ,

    I want to know how to do the platform request in j2me with respect to S40 and S60 phones differently . why means in S40 if you perform platform request it wont come back to the application . In case of S60 after the plat from request the control will come to the application .

    1. In this cases I need How to disting wish across S40 phone and S60 phones . How to know at run time I am running on S40 or S60 phone . Is there any property which will gives you the entire platform like NOKIA3250S60 kind of a thing.

    2. If it is not possible how the gmail mobile APP doing the platform request intelligently depending on the platform.

    The code I am using is:
    parent.platformRequest("tel:+"+number);
    parent.notifyPaused();
    parent.resumeRequest();

    If any one know how to do this ..It will be help full..

    1) Unfortunately there is no way of telling the platform with one single method call. There is one system property, which tells the phone model, but then you would need to have a built-in mechanism for checking the platform based on the device information. That would become outdated quite quickly.
    You could check the return value from platformRequest
    "Returns:
    true if the MIDlet suite MUST first exit before the content can be fetched."

    Hi,

    about PlateformRequest() method what i can tell you that there is no huge differences if you call on S60 and S40.In both of the cases your applcation is gonna kill.

    If you want to continue with the application after hitting some URL,then you can do that do not call this method.

    Thanks for your quick reply . It got solved with your advice . Now I able to do the platform request in S60 with out application exiting...!
