Nokia UI API s40/s60 and the camera's viewfinder

I have an application that uses a video control to show the camera's viewfinder. I use the Nokie UI API DirectGraphics object to access the pixels of the canvas on which the video control is painted, this allows me to manipulate the image and then draw it. This works great in s60 devices but in s40 devices it doesn't work, it looks like the getPixels method retrieves only white pixels from the viewfinder.
Is there any way to do the same trick i used on s60 devices on s40 devices?
I know I have the possibility to use the getSnapshot method but it works too slow for me.

    Thanks....

Unfortunately I think there is no workaround for this.

Thanks for the reply, those are bad news for me
I did these tests on an s40 3rd edition device. Is the viewfinder's behavior anything different on 5th edition devices?

I do not think so, as I have not heard of any changes in the Nokia UI API implementation on Series 40 devices. It might make sense to test that though...
