    g729 - SIp VoIP Preferences not working

    Hi there,

    I have a N95 8G and have setup a sip connection to www.callagenix.com.

    I have the SIP VoIP Settings application installed, and the connection I use activated within the 'Used SIP Profiles' area.

    I have changed the codec list so that all others have been deleted from the list, the only one left is g729 - however, when I make calls the codec is always A-Law (their support can see me logging into their sip server) so I basically get no compression.

    Phone has been rebooted, I've been through the settings - does anyone have any ideas how to solve this?

    Many thanks, Steve.

    Steve,

    I configure the used codec on my N95 (not the 8GB version) to have only two codecs G.729 and AMR and you can see in the trace I have taken on the client that the Nokia client set the preferred list properly:

    v=0
    o=Nokia-SIPUA 63376522966381500 63376522966381500 IN IP4 80.125.173.55
    s=-
    c=IN IP4 80.125.173.55
    t=0 0
    m=audio 25723 RTP/AVP 18 96 98
    a=sendrecv
    a=ptime:20
    a=maxptime:200
    a=fmtp:18 annexb=no
    a=fmtp:96 mode-change-neighbor=1
    a=fmtp:98 0-15
    a=rtpmap:18 G729/8000/1
    a=rtpmap:96 AMR/8000/1
    a=rtpmap:98 telephone-event/8000/1

    So you might check that the voip settings you've defined is properly configured and associated to the right SIP profile.

    did you get an ethereal trace on the server side to look at the SDP body ?

    Hi Jean-Philippe,

    Firstly, thank you for your reply.

    I have asked my voip provider to help with the trace - However, is there nay way to get this debug info directly off the phone? Or any facility out there where you can call a number and get this data returned?

    Kind regards, Steve.

    unfortunately, to get traces, I compiled an example that requires special libraries found in the binary dev kit that you get when you are symbian platinium. This also requires almost all ths capabilities All -TCB)
    I am not aware of any available tool that you could use to get the traces.
    I am not not aware of any service like the one you are dreaming of
