    StringItem layout in Form

    Hi all,

I am creating a Form and adding 3 StringItems and using Layout CENTER in every one. It is working very well, and the text of the three items are centered correctly in the form, but my problems appears when a text is too big, because this item seems to lose the layout, and is aligned in the left side of the form.

Anyone could help me to deal with this problem?

    Re: StringItem layout in Form

Are you saying that if you have 3 string items ("a", "ab" and "abcdefghijklmn") and if you can fit only 10 charactes on the screen, you will see "a" and "ab" centered, but the last 14-character string is shown as "abcdefghij" instead of "cdefghijkl"

Or are all the strings left aligned?

What device you see this on?

    Re: StringItem layout in Form

I am using a Nokia 6300. The two shorter stringitems are center aligned, but the longer one is left aligned, and all characters are shown. I would like to have the text of the longer in a line only (not in two and left aligned).

    Thanks!

    Re: StringItem layout in Form

    Got it.

A brief glance in the MIDP does not reveal any clear specification for this (but I might have jumped over that in a hurry). So it looks like it is up to the impolementation to display things which are longer than what can fit on the screen.

However, if there is something in the MIDP spec which addresses this, then let me know.

    Re: StringItem layout in Form

Ok, but I don't know how I am going to deal with it... May be checking if the StringItem has more width than the Form, and then trim the stringitem text to fit it to the form widht...

What do you think about it?
