How are .gcce files generated out of the .mmp files?

    Hi there,

I'm trying to resolve some linker issues I'm having due to wrong compiler switch order when building for phone UDEB to enable on device debugging. Can anyone tell me how the .GCCE files are generated out of the .MMP project files?

    Thanks in advance

if i am not wrong the .gcce files are intermediate files generated by GCCE.mk and perl to automate the compilation and linking process.

Actually if you really want you can check it for yourself. Both bldmake and abld use perl scripts located in epoc32\tools.
You may also experiment with OPTION keyword in the .mmp, perhaps they are included before the other switches, thus your order might show up. Then it would be still a question what happens with the original switches (how the compiler tolerates repeated occurences of a given switch), and if the order of the switches matters at all.

I've found that the switch which is actually responsible for the problem is the -g switch which triggers debug symbol generation. Also the debug switches are the first switches which are added to the compiler command line.
(I could solve the problem by temporarily moving the -g switch to another place, so it must be the order.)

Thanks for guiding me in the right direction I've found the perl script now. It's called CL_BPABI.PM in EPOC32\Tools.
