    Open call log view

    What is the prefered method if one wants to open the call log application and open it in a certain view?

    Consider the following code:

    const TUid KCallLogAppUid = { 0x101F4CD5 };
    const TUid KCallLogDialedNumbersViewUid = { 8 };
    AppUi()->ActivateViewL(TVwsViewId(KCallLogAppUid, KCallLogDialedNumbersViewUid);

    Call to CCoeAppUi::ActivateViewL() will only work if call log application is already running and the view has already has been shown/created. If the call log application is not running, ActivateViewL() will open the call log in a state where it seems like no views have been created yet, and where ActivateViewL() will not return until the call log application is closed.

    If have tried the approach to start call log application (using RApaLsSession::StartDocument() or RProcess::Create()). After the application is started I call ActivateViewL(), but this will only results in that ActivateViewL() leaves with KErrNotFound or KErrCancel. I guess this is because the view is not created yet.

    How could this be solved?

    Re: Open call log view

    Did you find out why this is now broken on the N95?
    Did you find a work around?

    I've tried all manner of hacks and can't get it to consistently work.
    As the phone app is able to do it consistently then there must be a way. And that way probably doesn't involve the official view switches.

    Did you try the LogsClientAPI in the partnering SDK, I believe there is a call to open the logs application in the correct view.
    Download Symbian OS now! [url]http://developer.symbian.org[/url]

    I love the fact that they can't tell you what is in the Partnering SDK, but your more than welcome to pay 90euros to find out if there is someting useful for you!

    I also love that they've changed the API 3 times in 3 releases and still say that the view switch mechanism works even when it doesn't.

    Thanks for the heads up, Paul.
