how to get the EMEI # using j2me

    Hi everyone.
I'm having a hard time reading the EMEI number using the System.getProperties("nnn.sss"); from my Midlet (CLDC 1.1/ MIDP2.1)
For nnn.sss I've tried different strings like com.nokia.mid.imei,com.nokia.imei, phone.emei and whatever else I found on the web.

I've been reading also that only S40 3rd edition phones and newers are able to return this value providing that your Midlet has been signed up.
I did try signing a midlet as well without any positive result, and tried it in several S40 (3rd and 5th edition) and S6) phones.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction, I think that in my case the problem has something to do with the way I'm signing the Midlet.
I will truly appreciete a sequence of steps or something concrete for addresing this issue; so far I have found just partial info and clues, without a clear explanation on signing and how to get the ... EMEI.

    Thanks in advance.
