Entering accent grave in text box?

I can't seem to find a way to enter characters such as à, è, ì, ò, ù, among all the others including umlaut. They do not appear in the character table. Can anyone help me figure out how to type them in, or enable my editor to show them in the char palette?

    Thanks!

These characters do not appear in the character table for a long time by now. I do not really know if they have ever appeared on S60, though I can remember that they did on the Communicators.
Practically you have to use the number keys, the accented characters should be on the same number where their 'accent-less' form resides.
