    Price differences between test houses

    Hi,

Does anybody know why there are such huge price differences between the different test houses?

Differences seem unbelievable (all in Euro):
    Code:
    --------------------------------------
    | Test House | First | Subsequent |
    --------------------------------------
    | MPhasis | 185 | 160 |
    | NSTL | 250 | 250 |
    | Sogeti HT | 560 (!) | 280 |
    --------------------------------------
Are there anything the expensive test houses do better?

    Thanks,
    Nadav

    Certainly not.
And as far as price difference is concerned, i have no such concrete information but following are some of the reasonable points to consider upon.

    * Geographic location
    * Name in market for long time
    * Work force in terms of Quantity

Ok, but how can I tell if a test house has a good name in the market, or has a lot of workers? Also, why should geographic location be an issue?

    Thanks,

You can check out balance sheet of such companies if they publish. And as far as geographic location is concerned, you can see the economy difference among different part of world.

By the way as i said in previous post that you should not worry about such issues. The main advantage i find is the availability of support from such Test houses which are near to my location and my working hours.

I think I use the same as many others here for economic reason and trust me price does not mean anything about their skill...

They are extremly efficient, ask questions when they have doubts, reply to your mail in about 2 minutes, and I've never been refused even if I made small mistakes, they let you the time to fix.

Never had any bad experience with testhouses, never had to make a test round 2.

    Hey Noxh,

What do you mean by "the same"? Which test house are you using? MPhasis?

    Thanks,

I'm not sure if it's fair to tell so but yes MPhasis, today again I received an accepted app.
They had problems to make it work, my mistake I made a complicated user guide, they ask a bunch of questions, you reply, they test, done.

That's the only reason why is still continue to work with testhouses rather than express signed.

For someone who has no interest (economical or other) in a specific test house, I think it is completely fair to say which test house he is working with, and how was the experience working with it. You don't force me to use the same one. It is up to me.

I have to use a test house, because of the capabilities I use.

Thanks a lot for the info,
    Nadav

I must admit, I did wonder about this.
Presumably, when you are happy with your sis file and you send it off, you want it to be signed. So, you don't want the most stringent testing, rather the least stringent. Which should be the cheapest.

That is not to say that I don't want to know if there are minor issues, like text running off the bottom of a screen of a phone that didn't exist when I wrote the code. The report is useful. I do want to know about all bugs. But I don't want to pay another 1000 euros for each minor issue that could easily be fixed in the next release.

Second to that. It should not be so stringent that makes developers away from Symbian development. Personal opinion though!!!
