    Background script & Dialogs

    Forum,

Presently, with a script running while the shell is minimized and stand-by screen displayed, note or query dialogs are not seen unless the shell is maximized.

Can this be overcome? Could the dialogs be displayed on the stand-by screen?

    Re: Background script & Dialogs

I hope the query is addressed sufficiently. I simply wish to enquire whether scripts running in background shell can trigger events in foreground stand-by screen?

    Would appreciate assistance.

    Re: Background script & Dialogs

I don't think it can be overcome. I tried displaying a note while on the stand-by screen, and I just heard the associated "beep", but no note was shown. I guess the only way to do it is to switch the app to the forground for the period of time in which the note (query, whatever...) is displayed, and then immediately switch it back to the background. If you want to do this, check out Cyke64's appswitch module.

Again, that's what I think. There may be a better method which I'm not aware of.

A global note is displayed even if the Python application is in background. See the documentation of appuifw.note() (page 16 of PythonForS60_1_4_3_doc.pdf).
