    System error

    Hello Forum Nokia Tech team,

I had submitted my application recently for Symbian certified signed. It supports symbian 1st and 2nd edition phones.
the result of the basic round was

During basic check, we observed following issues,

    - This application can not launch on NOKIA 6681.
Install the application on Nokia 6681. after launching the application, but it shows “System error”. But the application successfully installed on Nokia N70 and launched.

The same phenomenon occured on 6600

I asked the test house reason for the same as to how is this wierd behaviour occuring.

    Their very helpful reply was,

Thanks for your mail and information.

But sorry, we are not able to make sure why this symptom occurred. We suggest you ask Forum Nokia for more help

Kindly help on this issue. My application is waiting for its release and the deadline is at the corner.

I used TCT Publisher ID to sign the application.

    Re: System error

Which SDK did you use for the development ?

    N70 is FP3 device, 6681 is FP2 and 6600 in short of non-FP device..

    Hello DrJukka

Very pleased to have a direct conversation with you. Have seen your remarkable works on the Y-[series].
Actually we have used the symbian 6.1 SDK for development and are using the same for deployment on the mentioned handsets.
And the application ran perfectly on all the three devices during development. But after signing with TCT publisher ID the symptom occured

We have querried the same to developer.symbian.com forum
    their reply was

    Hi,
This seems to be an issue with the installer on the specific Nokia phone you describe. I have queried Nokia to find out why the installer is refusing installation of the file.

Should not be installer, but someting else really... Anyway, just an idea.. Could you install the app, then delete the aif File from the application, re-start the device and try launching the app again.

    Re: System error

Your AIF file has propably been made with wrong edition tools, has been awhile since I saw this last time, so can not remember directly how they go..

Anyway, try making it with command line tools, and specify the whole path for the aiftool.

easiest way would be to gather all required files in one folder and making a .bat file, so you could re-fresh it with double-click...

    Re: System error

I think normal bmp files with 8 or 24 bits/pixel should be ok. Can not remember correct sizes, but if I remember right, I was using 44x44 & 42x29 on my old apps.

    Dear DrYucca,

I tried the icons arent a problem at all. They are all correct. still the error prevails. Every time I install and run it doesn't work and shows the same system error. Im using UID from the protected range for the same.

Is there any tool that you have in mind to help be check the sif file?

    Re: System error

Then try making the aif file with command line tools, with full path to the aiftool, and try it with different SDKs, to determine which one works in all. I'm rather sure that I used to use aif files made with 1.2 SDK, but it has been a while.

    Re: System error

    Dear DrYukka

I am using aif tool of 1.2 sdk itself, i have mentioned the bmp images to be included in the aif in a MMP file in the following manner

    AIF MyApp.aif ..\aif MyAppaif.rss c8 context_pane_icon.bmp context_pane_icon_mask.bmp list_icon.bmp list_icon_mask.bmp

Then i am using command line

    bldmake bldfiles
    abld makefile vc6
    abld build wins udeb
    abld build thumb urel

to compile the project. Thus as you have mentioned i am using the command line to make aif.
If this is not the correct way of doing it then kindly let me know the apt way to do it.
