If the Phones are nearby you could use Bluetooth data sharing, which could be faster, and would not require a internet connection.

Moreover if the devices are remote from each other, the options are Internet and operator messenging services; the later would be more expensive.

Re: best way of sharing gps data between symbian phones

Hello, i just need to share latitude and longitude data between mobil phones, im using LatLongUTMconversion module for converting latitude and longitude data into x Y data so i can control an avatat in the a X-Y space. So which is the best way of share this data over all phones? so each phone can see the other players .... In puredata programming environment there an object called netsend that allows to send data over internet using both TCP/IP and UDP , maybe theres soemthing like this for pyst60? or which is the best way for doing what i need?

    thanks

Just POST them via GPRS to a MYSQL database somewhere and periodically have each of the gameplayers devices download the 5 nearest or something? Do you need live location information?

Yes, if the gamespace is too large as you say, Obiviously you should use the GPRS or the WLAN Connections to share data.

I don't think you will find any ready made examples,

What you could do is upload the content to a server, and fetch it from there. You could use this page,
it contains some examples on uploading and fetching parameters.

    Hope that helps,

Watch the battery life though! Constant transmit and receive will kill it fairly quickly.

    hi oyuky
yes it is possible that using TCP/IP socket you can actally share the latitude or longitude. moreover the method suggested by croozeus sounds nice just have a common server and do the manipulation of the data there.

    hi oyuky
just upload the information abt latitudes and longitudes to a common web server and using that web server i think that ur all players can use each others location information.
    hope you got it.
