[Help]Getting the emulator up and running

After my attempt to get PUtools running I decided to go for the next best thing: the emulator. Unfortunately I can't get it running.

    Please spot the fault:

    1. I've downloaded Series 60 2nd Ed. SDK for Symbian OS, FP 2 - Supporting Metrowerks CodeWarrior. I installed it to Y:\Symbian
    2. Then I downloaded PythonForS60_1_4_3_SDK_2ndEdFP2.
    3. I copied the contents (after extracting the zip to my desktop) of the PythonForS60_1_4_3_SDK_2ndEdFP2's EPOC32 folder to Y:\Symbian\8.0a\S60_2nd_FP2_CW\Epoc32.
In total I copied three folders to Y:\Symbian\8.0a\S60_2nd_FP2_CW\Epoc32, namely include, release and tools

When I run the emulator in debug mode I can't find a python icon...

Don't copy the contents of the EPOC32 to the Y:\Symbian\8.0a\S60_2nd_FP2_CW\Epoc32,

Just Replace the latter folder with the former (EPOC32 of the SDK).

    Lets see if it works.

After reinstalling the emulator (this time on the C: drive) I did the following:

    1. I unziped PythonForS60_1_4_3_SDK_2ndEdFP2.zip to a folder called PythonForS60_1_4_3_SDK_2ndEdFP2.
    2. In this folder I unziped sdk_files.zip to a folder called sdk_files
    3. In the sdk_files folder, is a folder called epoc32.
I copied this folder to C:\Symbian\8.0a\S60_2nd_FP2_CW/
    4. Windows asked if I wanted to replace certains folder which I agreed to. In C:\Symbian\8.0a\S60_2nd_FP2_CW/ Epoc32 is written with a capital. Just smth I noticed

But still no python icon to be found after I start the emulator. Where should it be?
The SDK version does match the emulator version so it should work...

I tried installing the emulator (Same as your version 2nd Edition FP2) to an other system. I replaced the EPOC32 folder in the SDK with the folder in Python SDK of the same version. The target directory was
    C:\Symbian\8.1a\s60_2nd_fp2\epoc32
And yes it does work for me.

    Hi Croozeus,

That is exactly what I have done. How does one see whether it works? Should I find a python icon when I boot the emulator? The instruction are simple, I do not get why it fails...Where did you get the 8.1a as I have the 8.0:-)

    There are 2 differences here

    You have C:\Symbian\8.1a\s60_2nd_fp2\epoc32

    I have

    C:\Symbian\8.0a\S60_2nd_FP2_CW/epoc32

Are you running python SDK 1.4.3?

faced the same problem while installing fp2_CW, advice would be if you want to do for python just install simple 2nd edition_fp2.

Download the 2nd Edition FP2,WINS SDK from here and Install it.

And yes you do find an Icon of Python Interpreter in the Emulator once you have succesfully installed the Python SDK.

Re: [Help]Getting the emulator up and running

    hi Jeroen1000,
I think the CW version is totally focused on c++ supporting Microsoft visual c++ and Borland c++ builder (was written as description is "Add or Remove Programs" )
