    [Announce] Timer Sample (code)

    Greetings,

    http://jouni.miettunen.googlepages.com/timersample

    Version History

    Version 1.0, release date 2008-06-12.

    Tested with N82 (pyS60 1.4.3).

    Code Samples

    * How to use Timer without callback
    * How to use Timer with callback without parameters
    * How to use Timer with callback with parameters
    * Seven (7) different ways to crash with Timer

    Timer Sample

I've tried to use timers for animation with limited, but not complete, success. Small sample code was easy, but 16 Puzzle v3.0 is now 800+ lines of code. Somehow moving from simple Timer cases to more complex ones wasn't easy at all, something went wrong all the time.

Here I have documented seven (7) different errors you can make with Timer, how to identify each and fix it. There's a few correct ways, too, I hope.

My experiments continue, but it's beginning to look better.

    Cheers,

    --jouni

    Jouni,

On http://jouni.miettunen.googlepages.com/timersample , the link of N82 is pointing towards E61i

Moreover, when do you add the code samples, that you have listed to your site?

Please explain.. The "code samples" are inside the script files, which can be downloaded from the link at left side, just below the screen image. There should be enough comments to make it reasonable easy to find out things.

Do you mean I should display the code on the webpage itself? With possibly additional comments? Instead of writing new stuff

    Cheers,

Ah, so they are all in one file. I didn't notice that you had already made it available for download.

Not really. Big code in file is better. How about adding it to the Forum Nokia Wiki? [Ofcourse, if you wish ]

Jouni, whats the progress with your 16 Puzzle?

You were planning to release it, weren't you?

Well, yes but... it was a bit tiresome to write animation logic again and again depending on which crash I tried to go around. Currently it does animation, but it doesn't save the "next" move during on-going animation, like it should == bug somewhere. Therefore it really isn't big enough improvement to be worth a release.

I'll take a break, do something else (new sample this night, just need to write webpage ) and most likely continue with another game I haven't released at all. Then I'll come back to 16 Puzzle, have a few features planned.

Btw wrote the wiki page you requested:
