    Unhappy S60 3.2 rtsp video play back problem

    Hi

    We are doing a video streaming project on java.
    And we find that there has some problem when playing rtsp video steaming on the new Symbian 3rd OS(Feature Pack 2).

    We use the MMAPI Demo(from WTK2.5.1) to make a sample player and success play the video.
    But the hidden & show video methods seems not working:

    vc.setVisible(false);
    vc.setVisible(true);

    Did anyone know the correct way to hide and show the video on these S60 3rd2 Edition?

    My Test device:

    N78(software version:10.27)
    6220c(software version:03.06)

    Some of my code:
    public void hideVideo() {

    try{

    synchronized (this) {

    VideoControl vc = (VideoControl)musicPlayer.getControl("VideoControl");
    vc.setVisible(false);

    }

    }catch (Exception e){}

    }

    Re: S60 3.2 rtsp video play back problem

    Hello!

    We have exactly the same problem. It seems that there is a problem with setVisible Method on S60 3rd FP2

    Same app works perfectly on S60 3rd FP1.

    A workaround is to use 2 canvas, one for video and one for actual painting.

    Also there is something wrong with player.close();
    Often the whole application gets stuck after that call.

    We face these video problems on N78, N96, 6210 navigator. All the FP2 Versions ...

    Its really frustrating... because it works perfectly on N95 with FP1

    Hello rlking and lkihk,

    Could you tell more specifically about these problems?

    Forum Nokia has identified this issue and it is currently under examination by our S60 people.

    Re: S60 3.2 rtsp video play back problem

    The traditional way of hiding video on S60 is to minimize the video to small sizes such as 5x3 and other. The exact ratios and dimensions differ from phone model to phone model. However, we have noted instability when getting the video visible again by setting the original size and position back again on the N96. It appears to be more problematic with less CPU time available for RealPlayer.
