Re: Nokia 6300i with Voip - other than Gizmo5

    Hi Betalaga,

I copied the .prov file to my PDA (a old ipaq 2490) and then send to BT but don't work When i try to send the file from PC - PDA or other cellular to 6300i always save the file in the Gallery and don't ask me to accept the new configuration.

I send a business card from the PC to the nokia and in this case i can accept the new business card and save it in the cellular.

I try to rename the prov file to vcf file (like a business card) but don't work (i receive a error).

Is there other posibility to do this?

    Thank you in advance.

betalaga, I think Skype does not use SIP thus one cannot configure Skype to 6300i.

asannucci, you need to send the .prov as a ObexPush to the 6300i

asannucci, you have to tell us which Bluetooth software you use. This is actually a non-Nokia issue. This is a technical about your used Bluetooth software. Perhaps then (after posting the manufacturer of your software) someone here knows a trick for your software; otherwise have a look at the support channels of that software how to send arbitray files like MP3 for example.

Re: Nokia 6300i with Voip - other than Gizmo5

    Hi traud,

    i use a compaq R4000 with Broadcomm Bluetooth version 17.105 / 99

While resolve the problem with the .prov file send, i use a provisional solution.

I created two gizmo accounts and I configured one in the Nokia phone and other in my asterisk server. Now I can route calls to my geographic numbers to my Nokia phone and i can make calls using DISA application of asterisk server.

Maybe this can be useful for other people.

    Best regards

Have you tried to drag-and-drop the .prov file on top of the ObexPush application icon that is present in the Bluetooth palace ?

Re: Nokia 6300i with Voip - other than Gizmo5

traud and others, many thanks, it works!
I've followed carefully all steps from the list written by traud, created new account at VoipCheap, used .xml file for VoipCheap published by sudude (the only modifications were my username and password) and it worked. Then I created new .xml file simply changing the successfull one for VoipCheap and now I have two VoIP accounts in my 6300i.

My question: can anybody recommend me any not very expensive VoIP provider with good voice quality? I use VoipCheap.com and VoipMax.com aka VoipHit.pl aka SipMax.pl (all these look like different dealer of the same provider: Betamax). Prices are very good, but the voice quality during calls to any cellular phone is hardly acceptable.

lech_s, have you played with the codecs (PRIORITYINDEX) already?

Not sure if this is your issue, however, in my tests I saw (in my log files of my router) one of my providers using the priority order they liked rather the order given by the XML file. Try to remove the G.726 (and G.729?) entries – perhaps your provider defaults to G.726-32. I am not so happy with the G.726 quality of my providers in conjunction with my Nokia 6300i (yes, I checked RFC vs. ITU), however, with G.729 and G.711 I am extremely happy. Nevertheless, I am not the VoIP-guy, this codec stuff is rather new to me, and technically, why G.726-32 isn't better as G.729, I do not understand at all.

Have you tested your provider with another VoIP device/implementation, perhaps even one directly sold my them?

Thanks to all those who posted in this forum. Without this information I would have sent my phone back by now. Using this info I have been able to set up SMSLISTO and VOIP.CO.UK accounts.

Change PUID to the registered outgoing caller id, instead of the username.

    Code:
      <parm name="PUID" value="sip:00000000000@sip.voipcheap.com" />

Re: Nokia 6300i with Voip - other than Gizmo5

    Good morning,

thank you for the support in this forum - I edited the example.xml by Nokia and entered as you proposed the servers, Sip-numbers etc. I got from my VoiP-provider (s. below). It is the German company "1&1".

I can connect to my home-wLAN without problems and the VoIP-number is registered without a problem. But I get problems when I try to place a call: The phone I call rings, but the line is dead. People can hear me, but I can't hear them. When they call me back my phone rings and if I accept the call, the line is still dead. Can anyone help me?

    Thank you,
    Christian

Kwi-Schan, does that happen for all calls (fixed and mobile) so far? Do you use other VoIP devices in your WLAN successfully?
