Re: Nokia 6300i with Voip - other than Gizmo5

Does anyone know where I can buy a 6300i in the uk? It's not even in the Nokia online shop.

Have you tried online shops (f.ex. this) ? Also within EU you can order it abroad without any additional tax costs.

After posting my question, I did find the sipgate page. Guess I was looking at the wrong place, it was a mistake expecting your average sales person on the high street to know what voip is.

[QUOTE=sudude;463718]betalaga, I think Skype does not use SIP thus one cannot configure Skype to 6300i.

    Hi!

It is indeed a very nice thread, though I cannot follow some parts of the discussion.

I come in a bit late. The fact is I was trying to figure out how VoiP is working on 6300i before buing it. After following this thread I decided to buy 6300i hoping to be able to solve any problem.

I searched the Nokia sites and found in http://www.softwaremarket.nokia.com/...id=304&lang=en
    a product

"IM+ for Skype for Java and S60v2 phones", Application Version: 1.3.5, by "SHAPE Services GmbH", file size 259 kb.

It promises "voice and text communication with other Skype users".

The cost is not great (3 euros) but I hesitate to introduce anything "strange" to my brand new Nokia.

So, do you have any idea on the above?

    Thanks a lot!

the 6300i is a s40 not s60, I'm not familiar with Java implementations but I guess it's probably not going to work.

    Thank you Lazarou

Actually I suscribed for the trial 7 days of Version 1.3.6. It did work somehow, I have to check further and report to you.

But the price was huge! 0,35 euros per min plus 0,08 connection fee!!! I do not understand it and will contact Shapeservices. I will let you know.

Smile Re: Nokia 6300i with Voip - other than Gizmo5

    Hi all

Many thanks for the help in this thread, I only bought the 6300i as it was billed as voip ready and all our office phones are voip using gradwell.net Centrex package, which much to my shock was not an option when i went into the voip menu on the phone! Took a while to figure it out as the Centrex acocunts are setup slightly differently to single like accounts but this is the xml i used. Simply replace --extension-- with your extension number, --password-- with your SIP Password and --server-- with your sip server (e.g. lon-pbx-12.gradwell.net). My nokia now logs in and rings with all the other extensions in the office and I can make nice cheap calls via gradwell, which is particulaly handy when abroad as vodafone roaming charges are daylight robbery! Also if out of the office calls can be transfered to me if I am connected to a wireless hotspot.

To pick up your voicemail dial *1 as an Internet Call.

If you are wondering why i used natproxy.gradwell.net it is because after speaking with Gradwell all their proxies are now rolled into one with the primary name of natproxy.gradwell.net (as opposed to their old nat. nat1. nat2. etc).

Hope this helps someone out as it took me a while to get it sorted!

Re: Nokia 6300i with Voip - other than Gizmo5

This has been a fascinating thread to follow. My problem is this: I subscribe to Free.fr, which offers free Wi-Fi calls IF one can find a way of programming one's Nokia phone. The Free.fr forum help is aimed at nokia S60 phones, which is of no use for my Nokia 6300i. Free.fr uses security certificates. I have downloaded these and turned them into phone-usable certificates with the help of the Free forums. How do I adapt the Series_40_Voip_Settings example file to build in these certificates? Any advice would be welcome as all do-it-yourself attempts have so far failed!

Janus104, could you share links to the SIP settings web page in free.fr and/or S60 settings XML that work.

The link is to a French web site. You need to look at the tutorial and the forum responses.

Janus104, I have a question as my French is not so good

You mention security certificates, do you mean the EAP-TLS ? If so then please note that Series 40 does not support EAP-TLS as WLAN encryption, only WEP, WPA, WPA2 are supported as WLAN encryptions. So does Free.fr only work thru their own WLAN "networks" which require EAP-TLS ?

Re: Nokia 6300i with Voip - other than Gizmo5

The EAP TLS encryption used by Free.fr is, I suspect, at the centre of my problem with a Nokia S40 phone. What is puzzling, however,is that I have managed to log onto my 'freephonie' account, using a variant of the Nokia XML file. So far, however, I have failed to make any calls using my Free wifi account, even though Sipgate works perfectly well from any Free WiFi hotspot.

Re: Nokia 6300i with Voip - other than Gizmo5

If you get your 6300i to register to the VoIP service, then the EAP-TLS should not be the problem in failing calls, because EAP-TLS is connection level thing.

What error note do you get when you try to initiate a VoIP call ? can you share your XML which you have got working registration ?

The error message is: Network Busy. Stop.

To share the XML file, I need to open a separate window within a reply message and have not yet explored how to do that.

Separate window ? or do you mean quote, like this.

Does your error message come to the screen immediately when initiating a call ? or with some delay (few seconds) ?
