The network busy message follows immediately on the information that a number is being dialled via netcall.
The XML file I have used is as follows. The 095xxx line represents one's Free telephone number and the Password is one's Free SIP password.

Re: Nokia 6300i with Voip - other than Gizmo5

You seem to be missing the AAUTHDATA parameter from the SIP settings, which according to the settings example is mandatory. Altough I think it should not register without that either, but you newer know. In addition to that I added sip: prefix to the PUID parameter. Both highlighted with red below.

So now the XML looks like this,

Before you configure this to your 6300i, please do remove the old freephonie configurations which don't need and you might still have in the phone, just to be sure they are not causing any problems. You can delete them by Menu->Settings->Configuration->Default config.sett. and then choose the VoIP settings you want to delete and choose options->delete.

Please share your results from this one.

If things are still not working then,
    - Is registering to freephonie free or charge ? if so then could you share the web link from where the registration can be made (assuming the service can be used outside France)
    - If it is not free to register, are you able to take network PCAP logs from your situation (with wireshark)

AAUTHDATA is not required in Series 40 and is received automatically from the response. ‘sip:’ is not required either. Make sure you login in via a webbrowser before starting VoIP. Anyway, I am curious, what is the issue especially as sipgate works. As the VoIP proxy might be within the connected network, have you tried without the STUN (w902E) section?

Success at last. Leaving out the whole STUN section permits me to access freephonie from Free Wifi hotspots. The attraction is financial. I pay a monthly fee to Free in order to make calls at no additional cost. Sipgate provides an excellent service but charges per minute. Thank you for your help and advice. It was much appreciated.

Janus104, good – however, in the final testing step, I recommend to leave the STUN section and replace ‘stun.freephonie.net’ with ‘0.0.0.0’ as this avoids a problematic DNS_SRV request. However, the STUN server is ‘freephonie.net’. Do not forget to post your findings to the community …

Leaving the STUN section in place and using 0.0.0.0 instead of stun.freephonie.net does not work. The whole section w902E has to be omitted. If one does that then one can not only log on via a Free Wifi hotspot but also from one's own Freebox router. The complete XML file that works is printed below as a quote for those interested in the Forum community. The XML file has to be transformed into a PROV file and sent via Bluetooth to one's Nokia phone, as described earlier in this thread.

Re: Nokia 6300i with Voip - other than Gizmo5

This is a great discussion on setting up VoIP provider for S40! I recently got the 6260 slide and can't even register with Gizmo now (with the Google deal, Gizmo doesn't accept anymore new account).

I successfully add VoIPCheap to the phone and it's working great. However, I'd like to know how I could setup IMs as well as voicemail. Any ideas?

    Regards,

    Peter

Peter, could you please explain the term „IM“ in more detail? If it is Instant Messaging, then I am not aware of a solution over the internal SIP implementation. Instead, please have a look at OMA IMPS like its implementation YamiGo, MobJab, chatNU and similar services (there are many more). Beside having an own community, some of those service bridge/proxy to legacy IM platforms, so you can chat with your current account details. This proxy behaviour allows you to chat with your current friends and they even do not know you use your Nokia. OMA IMPS is that ‘IM’ icon you see the menu. An alternative are Java MIDlets. To recommend a MIDlet, I would need the name of a platform you are looking for.

Voicemail is configured via Menu » Messaging » Voice » Internet call » Mailbox number. Not sure either, if that is the answer you are looking for.

Anyway, I recommend to have a look at Nokia’s discussion boards for end-consumers as those are much more active and there you may find additional links to choose from.

Re: Nokia 6300i with Voip - other than Gizmo5

Re: Nokia 6300i with Voip - other than Gizmo5

    My E55 (S60v5) won't activate with VoIPcheap...
I can't seem to import the xml file... all I do is copy and paste from here and make a new .xml file, replacing my username/pass

Also went through the advanced settings trying to do it by hand looking at the .xml file and configuring with the keypad to no avail?

Yet the MobileVoIP app works ok.

I wonder if I need to use a proxy service.... or put security to yes... trying that... hmm.. still no good...

p.s. bug in this forum where only the top page navigation works...

This thread is about the Nokia 6300i which is a Series 40 phone. Your phone is based on Symbian. Neither the .PROV nor the original XML files work for you.

If that works, what do you want to achieve actually?

Pretty neat tool, making the configuration of VoIP providers really easy.

@Traud: do you mean the contact form on the web page did not work ?

Btw. Does anyone know more of the X3-02 and its VoIP capability (apart from what is in the FN wiki) ?

Many many thanks to sudude and traud. I can confirm that my Nokia X3-02 VOIP work perfectly configured with .xml file from this page of the post, just replacing the name of the voip provider, username and password.

    n0kvoip didn't work for me...

    Thank you again
