    Question Rotated screen

Is there any simple way to output some text (for example in a canvas) into a N70 with the screen rotated by 90°?

In other words, can I show the output of my python program while my N70 is horizontal, and not vertical like usual? (Screen of 208 x 176, NOT 176 x 208)

    Thanks for any info.

Sorry to say it's not possible. At least I don't think it is. N70 is an S60 2nd edition device, and appuifw.app.orientation is only available from S60 3rd edition onwards.

it should be just a matter of updating the module, as some phones, even 2nd, have built-in capabilities to rotate screens: it depends on what is written in z:\system\data\wsini.ini , whose values can also be read programmatically.

I wrote an application some years ago:

It's for UIQ, but don't care it, its actually for Symbian 7.0.

    Re: Rotated screen

This is the z:\system\data\wsini.ini of my N70:

    AUTOCLEAR 0
    STARTUP \SYSTEM\PROGRAMS\starter
    WINDOWMODE COLOR16MU
    ABSOLUTEFADING
    NOREDRAWSTORING

    SCR_WIDTH1 176
    SCR_HEIGHT1 208
    SCR_ROTATION1 0
    SCR_TWIP_WIDTH1 1984
    SCR_TWIP_HEIGHT1 2324

    SCR_WIDTH2 176
    SCR_HEIGHT2 208
    SCR_ROTATION2 0
    SCR_WINDOWMODE2 COLOR64K
    SCR_TWIP_WIDTH2 1984
    SCR_TWIP_HEIGHT2 2324

So I suppose that N70 don't support landscape screen.
    What's happens if I create a c:\system\data\wsini.ini with a section like this?

    SCR_WIDTH2 208
    SCR_HEIGHT2 176
    SCR_ROTATION2 90
    SCR_WINDOWMODE2 COLOR64K
    SCR_TWIP_WIDTH2 1984
    SCR_TWIP_HEIGHT2 2324

Some people did this test, as most of symbian settings are usually read from all available drives before looking into Z: , but with no luck in this case; anyway I suggest you to try with D: before C:, as if something goes wrong, you could lock up your phone!

Else, if it is possibile to modify n70 firmware (and I think it IS possibile, as I can read about Symbian 3rd hack), you could try this way.
