Location module : wake up on new cell ?

    Hi there,

I need to log changes in GSM cells, doing so I use polling on location.gsm_location().
This is great, but despite sleeping between calls (~5s), this is still battery consuming when there's no change between cells (I used battery profiler to see what happens : there's ~150mW peak on each wakeup, while 20mW when completely idle).

Is there any other way ? If not, please guide me on modifying the source..

Well, depending on the accuracy you need, you could make it sleep more. So if you don't need to be notified immediately when the cell is changed, you could make it sleep for, say, 30 seconds at a time. Other than that I don't know what to say...

I thought about something like a "file descriptor" we could expose to python.. I could modify the module source, but I need expert advice
