[moved] N78 and Garmin Mobile XT doesn't work.

It seems like these two are not compatible with each other. Everytime I've tried to install Garmin on my phone it freezez. It works perfectly fine with N95 and some other models though.

I am not the only one: http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/...hread.id=94930

Somebody from Nokia who can verify this to be a known problem?

    Thanks

If that application has indeed a problem it is its developers that should be looking into it as they are the ones that know what the application does and how. Forum Nokia can assist Garmin with the investigation but I'm afraid we can do nothing for you.

Okay. Thanks for your answer but i have another question.

I know for a fact that it works on N82. Is N82 similar to N78 when it comes to software, platform etc.?

This is easy to find b reading the device specifications, see http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices/matrix_all_1.html

    N82 is a S60 3rd Edition FP1 device, N78 is a S60 3rd Edition FP2.

What this means is that if only SDK APIs are used then the application designed for N82 works on N78 too. If non-SDK APIs have been used then there's a risk of a break, and I suspect this is what happens in this case.

Off-course another question popped up in my head. Since i've just bought the n78 and i am a bit annoyed due to the lack of programmes compared to a FP1 device i am wandering if future telephones will contain FP2 or FP1?

And what is the difference between them?

Of course the same answer comes to my mind: "This forum is reserved for software developers, please use http://discussions.europe.nokia.com for end-user related queries."

If you are interested in the kind of informations we work with in these forums, this is one thing to have a look at: http://blogs.forum.nokia.com/blog/lu...2-sdk-released

Do have a look at www.s60.com too.
