    6280 - using camera causes phone to reboot

    Hi Guys

    I'm trying to make my phone go into "camera mode" so the user can take a picture, which will then be saved and/or uploaded.

    I'm using the "Scenario 11" code sample shown here:

    http://www.iua.upf.es/~mkalten/teach...ml#scenario-11

    Player p;
    VideoControl vc;

    // initialize camera
    try {
    p = Manager.createPlayer("capture://video");
    p.realize();

    // Grab the video control and set it to the current display.
    vc = (VideoControl)p.getControl("VideoControl");
    if (vc != null) {
    Form form = new Form("video");
    form.append((Item)vc.initDisplayMode(vc.USE_GUI_PRIMITIVE, null));
    Display.getDisplay(midlet).setCurrent(form);
    }

    p.start();

    } catch (IOException ioe) {
    } catch (MediaException me) { }

    // now take a picture
    try {
    byte[] pngImage = vc.getSnapshot(null);

    // do something with the image ...
    } catch (MediaException me) { }

    When this code executes, instead of going into camera mode the phone freezes for a few seconds then resets -- i.e. everything closes and it goes back to the home screen.

    Does the Nokia 6280 support camera capture? If so, what am I doing wrong?

    If I remember correctly 6280 supports snapshots. You need to use capture locator image instead of video (like on all other Series 40 devices)

    Hi, Hartti

    I tried it with "capture://image", but I just get the same result - the phone hangs for a few seconds then restarts.

    Any other ideas?

    Hi. I'm experiencing exactly the same problems on my 6280.

    Is this a known problem? Is there a trick to make the snapshot work on this phone?

    Thank you
