Re: Step 7 of SymbianSigned test UNI-09

    Yes i agree with Amit,
the criteria does not state anything about opening the application
And i do use some files. I store them in private directory ,but it will be stored in private directory under memory card if i have stored Application in Memory card.

If you are modifying any files which are there in your .pkg file then i think it will create problem. In this case i would suggest you not to open your application. Just let it be untouched. Follow the steps and show your findings.

    hi,

yes, the test may pass when application is not opened...
but will Symbian Signing Test house also follow this ? if not then the application would fail the test, but we would have passed it...

Re: Step 7 of SymbianSigned test UNI-09

hi amit, My app does create some files in the private path under memory card if application is installed in Memory card. this should not cause any problems right?? the app should pass the test even for this scenario?? Anyways i am not modifying files specified in the .pkg

Re: Step 7 of SymbianSigned test UNI-09

well, even if the files mentioned in the pkg files are modified, it will work.

only condition is it, it should be memory card, and package file should not have anything pointing to phone memory.
This is also the reason why "auto start" feature doesn't work and is an valid exception...

Yes i guess auto-start requires to install metadata file(rsc) to this path i believe c:\private\101f875a\import\, along with some other conditions, correct me if i am wrong

Re: Step 7 of SymbianSigned test UNI-09

I re-ran the tests as suggested. I used two phones N95 as Phone A on whose memory card the app was installed and E51 as phone B to which the memory card will be transferred.

The App did not install however i got this message
"Unable to install application from memory card.to continue installation please go to application manager"

As per criteria the the installer does pop out a message if not installed . would this suffice or should i continue my/our endevour

Also if i put back the Application back on original device i get the App back on Applications menu(N95). and i can use the same too.

I tried this both before and after using the app.

Re: Step 7 of SymbianSigned test UNI-09

I had tried out one or two symbian signed applications they too did not emulate the expected behaviour. Y-Browser application from Dr Jukka.com a reference for Symbian signed apps it too did not conform to this test. may be they were signed before this Step 7 clause was included.
