    Exclamation Light Saving Application

    Hi,

    I want to made an application that have user interface and settings of light saving and tones etc,

    In light saving module, when user select light off time and on time it works accordingally, and if user wants light off permanent, light should go off. I read CHWRMLight Api for that but i think this is not light off permanent, if user press key light wil on but i want if user select option light off permanent light should not on in any case.

    Please give me any idea about that, i am new in symbian and i was reading about symbian last one month and today i am starting development in Symbian.

    Please Help me.

    Thanks in advance

    Ranjeet Kumar.

    Sorry to say but you may not get more control then that using CHWRMLight, and there is no other public api that does that.

    From 3rd edition onwards the HAL is responsible in doing the device lights on and off and which is not public. You need to check with Symbian and Nokia for further support on this issue.

    Hi,
    I am using following, and function returns value in red color code. ANd one thing, HAL class has a function

    Set(TInt aDeviceNumber, TAttribute aAttribute, TInt& aValue);

    What is the device number?

    Code:

    TRAPD(err,HAL::Get(HALData::EBacklightState,aValue));
    //err=0 and aVlaue=1
    aValue1=HAL::Set(HALData::EBacklightState,0);
    // aValue1=-5

    The device number are the internal manufacturer used constants which are internal and not public, the values changes depending on the manufacturer if it is nokia, ericsson, samsung ..etc...

    As a comment in hal_data.h states you need WriteDeviceData capability to set EBacklightState. Does your app have it?

    Re: Light Saving Application

    Actually -5 is KErrNotSupported. So maybe it is really not supported changing backlight state via HAL.
