    Help make a screensaver...

Basically, I want an avi file to be converted into Flash Light for use as a screen saver. I have it at the proper resolution, NO sound, ect. As raw video it's 15.3MB.
The length is approximately 10 seconds, at most 1 second off.

    Hi 1031982,

There appear to be a few tools to help with the conversion, I haven't tested any of them however.

I will try things listed on the page, but I think I might run into the same problem. I had it converted one time, and it wouldn't play back on the phone. I suspect it's going into Flash, not Flash Light.
I should have made not before, I do some work with video editing in my spare time. Mostly minor cleaning up, and VHS to DVD conversion. I have converted between formats, but they were to be used on a PC, not another device.

They don't convert to Flash Light. I think I could get the video into a rather large selection of images if that helps.

    Hi,

Personally I wouldn't attempt to convert a 15mb file to Flash. Considering the size of the file I seriously doubt that it would work correctly anyway.

How about a 6.5MB uncompressed AVI? I cut out a lot of other stuff, and found a good start and end point making it seemliness on repeat.

Screensavers are intended to be under 100kb generally, most devices that allow for screensavers will have a lower RAM limit applied to the content type too.

I think you are going to need to create a Flash animation, converting videos to SWF format isn't viable I'm afraid :-)

darn... how about using an animated gif? I have a 1GB Micro SD card in there, so size is not an issue to me.

But even if you did manage to turn it into an animated gif, what size do you think it would be? The player would fail to load it for sure..

You should think about taking some element of the video, even a still shot and animating it a little.
