    Frame length variation for E95

    Hello Everyone,
    I am new in Symbian Programming. I trying to build an VoIP Application using APS. My application running well on E65 but in N95 I getting some problem. The reason I get from this link : http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph..._G.711_encoder

    Now I have some confusion. If I try to set encoder and decoder mode to 10ms then how can set it? I using in my code for 20ms like...

    iSession.SetEncoderMode(EALawOr20ms);
    iSession.SetDecoderMode(EALawOr20ms);

    Here TAPSCodecMode enum have no option for 10ms. Then how can I set it... please help me.

    Thanks,
    Salahuddin

    Hi,

    You can't set the frame length dynamically, it's fixed for a specific firmware version. The answer is in the link you give:
    The G.711 encoder uses a fixed frame length, and it cannot be configured dynamically.
    If your N95 is giving you 20ms frames then upgrade the firmware to a version later than the one stated in the Known Issue. More generally detect the length you're getting at run-time and adapt.

    It would seem that if some devices need 10ms and some 20ms then you need to adapt on every device anyway.

    Re: Frame length variation for E95

    Thanks for your reply...
    Actually I dont want to set this dynamically. I want to set this when I connect to APS at first time. N95 and N95 8gb Device giving 10ms frame insted of 20ms. But If I want to use APS for this kind of FP1 device then I need to set this when I connect to APS.
    That's why I want to know how can I use APS for this kind of dissimilarity.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

    Even setting it at connect time is still setting it dynamically. Fixed means you can't change it at all - ever. You have to adapt by picking a frame length for your application and then either splitting or combining frames on the devices that use a different length.

    Does that make sense?
