Navigate to URL using Browser Plug-ins

    Hi everybody

    I use a s60 3rd device (N82)
I download the plug-in API dev guide and the example. (C++)

We wrote some plug-in DLL that is loaded with the browser and works fine to communicate with our core application.

I am looking for some way to make the browser to navigate to a new URL with some plug-in call.

    the function:
Funcs()->geturl(pNPP,pUrl,NULL) returns PANIC and kills the browser.

What is the RIGHT way to do this?

    Thank you very much
    M

if you want to communicate with the plug-in from the javasript, you would need to implement the scriptable interface for the plug-in. This is a bit difficult since it would normally require some internal libraries that are potentially having binary breaks.

Anyway, you could sommunicate from the plug-in to any symbian application, as well as run them, so, you could tell the browser to open a new page from the plug-in.

    Thank you for your answer.

Maybe I was not clear enough:

My plugin program works well and got some URL from another program.

Now, I need the open browser to jump to this URL.

The plugin give some functions (geturl, posturl...) But the document was to succint for me.

    Some ideas?

    Thank you very much

why wouldn't you then use the normal way on opening browser and giving it the link to go. Basically the Wiki example shows on how you can also supply new address to a browser that is already running.

unfortunately my web connection is acting up, so I can not get the link added here.

    This open a new browser.

Does it work with an opened browser? I need to check.

The problem is it's a heavy code, and it cannot be used inside the Plugin. Just externally.

If you have some other solution (like geturl of the plugin) it could be more appropriate.
    Thank you

the line "if(task.Exists())" checks if the browser is working, also it is not that heavy code, and should in my opinion work with normal browser, of course with Widget if wont, and if you use Browser control, you could just have the base application calling the control with new Url.

Re: Navigate to URL using Browser Plug-ins

Thank you for all your time

Actually, I use a regular browswer that loads some internet page with attached plug-in code. This communicate with the compiled dll plugin (loaded with the browser).

The best way for me should to be able to use some plugin function (as geturl) to make the browser to go to a specific page.
I got help and knowledge from the
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.n..._0_en.pdf.html

But I failed to use correctly the geturl function. (And didn't find enough information on the net).

    Thank you very much
    Michel
