Can't be done with J2ME. Can't be done with C++ directly, either, but a separate application to protect (encrypt) messages and maybe move/copy them to a private "database" for the application is possible to write in C++ for Symbian based devices (such products already exist).

    Thanks for your quick reply.
We are using this application for Nokia N series.
Is there any new API available in MIDP ?

Doesn't matter which phone you use (Nseries or whatever). It can't be done with a MIDP/CLDC MIDlet.

It is a dead-end, most definitely, if your goal is to do what you want done in Java.

So, I would say that you should find another last year project, or switch to S60/Symbian and try to do something in C++.

Question Re: Access Phone's inbuilt applications Using J2ME api

    Hi Petrib

So, According to you I can do this thing using Symbian C++.
I got a new idea to resume my stuff, don't know it is possible or not?

A symbian application can give me control to OS native folder.
When user clicks on message section(call records, network security, contacts, todo) this application starts and through this application I can call my java(jar) application.

    From Ref:

If i can do this way it would be great. Please help me....

Another problem is I know nothing in symbian.

So if I can do this way please provide me some code to start this symbian application.

    Hi nirajpendal,

you'll surely get more C++ specific help by asking on Symbian C++ General board.

About launching a MIDlet from a C++ application, you can check this Forum Nokia Wiki article:

Re: Access Phone's inbuilt applications Using J2ME api

You can get to all the messages and read/manipulate them through C++ APIs. Check the SDK and wiki for examples.

However, if you don't know Symbian and C++ at all, then it might not be suitable to use for your project, depending of course on how fast a learner you are, and how much time you have for your project.
