Detect if Device is S40 or S60 Device

    Hi!

In my Application I need to query for other Bluetooth Devices and S60 phones find nearly all devices in the first 7 seconds and S40 phones much later.

So i would need an detection method to change the inquuiry timeouts during runtime?

Has anyone an idea how to realize that?

    regards

I think it would be good to know what exactly you would like to achieve. Does your code and application purpose matter here or is a general possible solution alright?

There's no easy way of doing that, the only possible path is to check "microedition.platform" parameter but still it gives you the device model, not the Series.

Are you using getFriendlyName() during discovery? This slows down S40 CONSIDERABLY. Use this guidelines I wrote myself when I got the same issue years ago: http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph..._remote_device.
