Re: About series 60 sdk 2.0

I am not too sure if I remember it too well, but there was a workaround that you could create devices.xml in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symbian and then install the SDK and the IDE would recognise the SDK. Am not too sure, but if somebody could fill in/add, you are welcome.

    Hi daiqingping,

Just for the benefit of others who might be referring to this thread, can you say if the solution was based on the above hint or you did something else to sort out the issue?

    hi Symbian_Neil:
the solution is based on the above hint.According to the hint,i download the S60 2nd Edition descriptors that are missing from the installer, and copy the unziped files to the directory:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symbian\SDK Descriptors\Nokia.
    the download link is:

i suggest to uninstall all sdk's and register and reinstall it and if it's not active follow this steps :
How To Use Multiple Installation of the Same SDK
Carbide.vs does not recognize multiple installations of the same SDK properly. The device id in the devices XML is different when you have multiple installations, so there is no descriptor available for that.

To use multiple installation of the same SDK:

Copy the SDK descriptors (Program Files\Common Files\Symbian\SDK descriptors\ )of the SDK that you have multiple installations and rename it as you see fit

Open the copied XML and edit the deviceID to point out to the one that you want to use, as defined in the devices.xml file. It might be helpful also to change the shortName and the configName, so you can distinguish the installations within Carbide.vs

    Original:

S60 3rd Edition SDK for Symbian OS, Maintenance Release

    Copied:

S60 3rd Edition SDK for Symbian OS, Maintenance Release
