    Visual Studio .Net can be used with the help of a dedicated plug-in, the Carbide.vs.

    Alternatively go ahead and use your favorite text editor (Notepad or better) and the command line tools for building the project.

    if you could get Codewarrior, it would still work.

    With really old SDK's you could use VC6 and also some Borlands C++ builders, though with these IDEs you can not use newer SDKs anymore.

    Just to be more precise: those really old SDK-s working with Visual Studio 6 are S60 1st edition, and S60 2nd edition up to FP2.

    If someone likes Visual Studio 6 it still can be used with 3rd edition SDKs, here is an instruction:

    I used to work with it until I moved to VS2005 + Carbide.vs 3.0.

    I am rather interested in knowing the reason behind "not using Carbide.c++". Is there any bad experience with that?

    If you don't have the latest version Carbide C++ 3.1 it is not supported on Vista but the latest version is and that is the only drawback I can think of other than personal preference.

    However, personal preference is important and should not be ignored. The best code is written on an IDE or editor that you are comfortable with and has the features that you feel are important.

    Guess you mean Carbide.c++ 1.3 ;)

    Personally, I have used little of Codewarrior and more lesser than that of Visual Studio. But I have been a very satisfied user of Carbide.c++, and have been using it through its evolution and must admit that it has matured a lot since its introduction. So my personal preference vote says Carbide.c++ :)
