    Question Bluetooth message indication?

    hi friends,

have you observed one thing ?

Send one text file via bluetooth from PC to mobile .
Then open C:\\System\\mail\\... find your txt file there.
read it . delete the file ....come out

now what should be the status in inbox?
i expect in inbox it should not show recently sent bluetooth message. But it is not true?????

still you can see that message in inbox...
clicking on it will not do anything since corresponding file we have deleted ... but why indication in INBOX remains???

i want to remove that indication through python program ...how?
    regards
    Girish

    Hi Girish,

This problem was there in 2nd Edition phones. I guess you have a 2nd Edition Device

And it is solved in 3rd edition devices

    Yes i have nokia 6600 s60 2nd edition mobile...
But is there any way to solve it in 2nd edition???

Or if i go on deleting files and Inbox get increasing the indications ...what adverse effects it will have on memory?
since only indication present how much memory will waste?

Another BAD thing is that INBOX module dose not count Bluetooth messages so i also can not measure length of inbox contents and force user to delete indications manually...???

    please provide a solution...
else my application also will have this BUG for 2md edition.

Please check Z:\\System\\Apps\\mce.app it will navigate you to Messaging. So is there any way to delete inbox indications via this path????

    Oh boy

That application was not expecting that anyone would go messing with its private data or folder structure. It was designed so that all operations related to its data would be done through either its UI or API.

The next version is bigger and slower, because now it has to be prepared to deal with this kind of situations: data disappearing without any warning, data appearing without any warning. More complexity means more possibilities for defects.

That was a good use case to explain why Data Caging was introduced. I'm not a fan of DG, but on the other hand you can drop a massive load of "code lines just in case something might happen which I wasn't expecting" and keep sw internals again a) simpler b) smaller c) faster.

Anyway, the answer was that you were not supposed delete that file by yourself! Since you did, the application internal status got messed up. In worst case you might corrupt your other messages etc.

    Cheers,

--jouni not really complaining but explaining what happened and why
