    VS2005 & Hello World

    Hello!

    I'm trying to run the HelloWorldBasic program using visual studio 2005. I have Carbide VS installed and the S60 3rd edition feature pack 1 sdk.

    I create a symbian project using the mmp file using the import option, the project builds fine but when I execute this the emulator fires up but then just displays the idle screen (contacts, messages etc.) instead of executing the hello world program.

    any ideas what I may have missed?

    You have not missed anything. :) Now open "Installed" folder in that screen. That folder contains all applications created by you and few system default applications. You should find your application under that folder.

    That's it.

    Cheers.

    Added to that if you application is a console type then you may not see your application in Installed folder of your emulator.

    ASP.Net is server-side stuff, you develop the web application, and view it with the browser of the device.
    Dunff2k was doing client-side development, with the extinct Carbide.vs, which does not exist for years by now, and it had nothing to do with neither ASP nor .Net anyway.

    Hello,
    I have gone through the HelloWorld Tutorial [1] twice and was wondering why my HelloWorld didn't launch automatically. (Well i didn't get a "New Launch Configuration Wizard" [1 -> 12.], so i thought this may be a issue on the emulator not getting my application)

    Luckily i found this thread whilst looking for the right spot to post my problem!
    Thank you! :)

    ps: System: Windows Vista, CarbideC++

    Re: VS2005 & Hello World

    You can modify the launch target in Run/Build(Debug) Configurations/<select the existing one>/Process to launch. If it is ...\epoc32\release\winscw\udeb\epoc.exe, the emulator is going to be launched, but you can modify it to your own .exe.
    Luck is a bit relative, since VS2005 is not supported any more, and it certainly had its settings in some other location.
    Note that you can update your Carbide.c++ to the recently published 2.6 version via visiting Help/Check for Updates.
